All Farmers stores continue to support hospice this Christmas, as they have done for the past six years, raising $4.2 million nationally over that time.
This year, the bauble is really special to Nurse Maude Hospice. It comes from the stories of bereaved carers of patients who have received services from the hospice in-patient unit, in their own homes and/or by attending our Korowai Programme for carers.
A small group of family carers was joined by Nurse Maude hospice staff, Hospice New Zealand and Farmers staff, as they told the stories of their loved ones. From these stories, and their experience of Nurse Maude Hospice, Comfort by Hospice was created. The feathers within the bauble represent the Korowai (cloak) of comfort that they felt wrapped in by hospice.
There are limited numbers available which can be purchased from your local Farmers store.
Until Christmas Eve, when you make a donation to hospice you will be given a remembrance card. You can write a message on the card for someone special that you will be thinking about this Christmas, and then hang it on the Tree of Remembrance – there is one in every Farmers store throughout New Zealand. “
